Orderly book, 1759.

Orderly book kept for Josiah Thacher containing orders issued for his company of Thomas Doty's Regiment of Mass. Provincials during the French and Indian War. The orders, dating from 13 May - 7 Aug. 1759, were recorded by James Hamilton, Thacher's adjutant, at Halifax, N.S., possibly as part of the Quebec Campaign. The orders concern hygiene, routines, weapons, maintenance, punishments for disobedience, parade orders, work details, religious observances, and provisioning. The vol. also includes orders regarding embarkation aboard ships for deployment, and passwords.
